IFRS Adoption and the Financial Statements Comparability: The Case of Russia and Canada

The effect of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) adoption on the level financial statements comparability was investigated for Russia in current article. Canada chosen comparison due to close time frame IFRS adoption, which also allowed comparing influence both types economies – well developed and emerging. Initial sample selection had been created from 23 companies that are presented stock exchange markets particular countries. Each contains semi-annual data four years pre-adoption period (2008 2011 Russia, 2007 2010 Canada) use their home country accounting standards post-adoption (2012 2015 2014 standards. research performed industry Two measures used research: earnings-return regression earnings-cash flow regression. overall result study shows application improved information between only Canada, while same not case Russian cross-country comparability. However, confirms an increase such industries as Energy Basic materials inside given but well.
